Farm Town Oceans & Lakes A Farm Design Water Optical Illusion

Have you ever visited a Farm Town farm and seen an ocean or lakes on their farm and wondered how to do it? Well you are in luck, because we are exposing the secret of how to make them. First of all, let me say that this is definitely not something that the game developers put in the game. For all intensive purposes, this is a Farm Town glitch that has a really pleasing effect to the eyes. The way we will show you gives the illusion of rippling water. Follow the steps below to learn how to make Farm Town Lakes and Oceans.

How to Make Farm Town Lakes and Oceans:

  1. Start by placing a river corner on your property in the location of your ocean or lake
  2. Place dirt paths on top of the river corner, like so.  Important: You will probably need to move them from the grass to the top of the river corner – you cannot place them there directly from the store after purchase.

  3. Continue placing dirt paths on top of the corner until you have four across it. This will prepare your lake for the next pieceFarm Town Lake
  4. Now that your dirt is in place, you will be creating your Farm Town ocean by setting another river corner on top of the dirt paths like soFarmtown Ocean
  5. Your next step will be to move the dirt paths back on top of your newly placed water so that you can repeat the process

  6. Last of all, your final result will look something like this
    Farm Town Ocean

Congratulations, you have now created your very own Farm Town Lake, or if you wish to make it bigger, an ocean! Impress all of your friends with your creativity and Farm Town design skills when you show off your new body of water.

Finally, check out this video if you have any questions about how it all goes together in the end.

Or you can check out the following video, which details a little more about how to use main river pieces than just corners. This can be a very effective way to cover large areas with water, but in my opinion it is not quite as nice looking.

Note for those making oceans with the technique listed in the second video. If you are having problems with not being able to remove dirt paths from the ocean, you will need to hide your river pieces (by clicking on them and then selecting hide) in order to select the dirt road pieces to remove. Reload your farm in order to see the your ocean again.

I’m doing it now, it’s fiddly but it’s working ok. You have to keep moving the dirt each time, don’t just put another river corner on top eventhough you can still see the dirt from you rlast placement.

I had the same issue and then realized hours later that you have to pick the correct river end piece to make it work..that one is the only one that gives it that deep level look

I’m finding the same problem today – 9/19/09. I can no longer lay dirt over anything.
I cannot place anything over anything else. I have a dirt bridge but cannot move the lamp posts over them anymore!
    Did slashkey eliminate this ability?

    Appreciate any feedback available!

Yes it still works. Some water pieces allow the water piece to fall or slip underneath the edge. This occurs mainly at what seems to be the anchor of the piece. What I call the anchor is the square that shows up as a red outline when the piece is hidden. To avoid this try laying the dirt path on the grass side first and overlapping the second dirt path halfway up the first dirt path. Then do the same with the third. This technique requires 3 dirt paths on each side, so don’t forget to count how many went down and how many you recover. Pieces you leave are not visible to you when you are on your farm, but everybody else can see them.

My farm is all jacked up at the moment as I am redoing it with a lazy river running thru it. but if you can find it you are welcome to stop by any time.

i did this last night (waterfall) except i used the stone path squares instead and it was easier for me. no luck with the dirt either. now i am going to try adding the lake. hope it works for you!

Is this no longer working? I have tried everyway I can think of to make an ocean or a waterfall. hiding the items doesn’t work. I just can’t seem to get the dirt to lay over the water. I worked so hard to get to level 27 to unlock the water yesterday and tried and tried to add water features like I have admired on other farms. Doe anyone know if it still works. Thanks.

it works just have to get the dirt paths right to set the water down on and then hide the water and delete the dirt. Some times i had to leave the farm and come back. I have been very frustrated with this too, but did finally get my water fall down. good luck
